PLease sample the following simple practices. Apply what you can today, apply more tomorrow! All are very user friendly, easy, tried and true methods of living more harmoniously within the universe. As you learn you grow, and you will increasingly take responsibility for your existence in this world, in turn elevating your level of consciousness! You will feel good, and the universe will thank you!

*CARE! *THINK intelligent thoughts.* QUESTION the status quo.*Live with less.* GENERATE LESS trash.* Clear your space.*Don't eat animals.*Make intelligent choices when purchasing, supporting eco friendly companies.* Read the ingredients list* CHOOSE less packaging.* Drive less often.*
Hang dry clothes, eliminating the need for owning/using a dryer.* Wash clothes in warm or cool water, not hot. 80-85 percent of the energy consumed to wash clothes comes from heating the water.* TURN off the water when brushing teeth, save 4 gallons. that's almost 3,000 gallons a year, if you brush your teeth twice a day.*SMILE often.*
THINK three times before making a purchase, asking the question do I really need this?*HUG.*
Don't use dishwashers, use your hands, it's easy!.*
Don't eat animals.*
Don't kill.
No, not even spiders, ants, and mosquitos!* Avoid plastic.* THINK.*
QUESTION the need for soap when washing dishes. We think, if this has been a vegan meal, and wasn't an oily food, We can wash the dishes in hot water right after a meal, and won't need dishsoap.*
Double or triple up paper grocery bags and reuse them indefinitely.* Don't use styrofoam.* Don't use plastic bubble wrap or styrofoam "peanuts" when pkg. boxes. Reuse newspaper, junk mail,...etc. instead.*
Buy in bulk.*LOVE.*
Reduce.* Reuse.* Recycle.* CHOOSE not to use pesticides or herbicides.*Live without air conditioners.*Purchase clothes from thrift stores, garage sales, and flea markets.*Rescue furniture, household items,...etc. from tree lawns on trash day, if needed.*CREATE "free boxes" at work, school, and communuty centers.*
COMPOST.* Freeze compostable materials, find a friend with a compost pile, and add the frozen compost to friends' compost when visiting, if unable to compost at home.*
Buy Organic.*
GROW your own Organic food.* Let the grass grow longer, save fuel, time, energy, and $$$, cut your grass half as often.*
Shovel the snow instead of using a snowblower or plow, it's good for the body and good for the environment*
Don't use salt to melt the snow or ice, it's harmful to the soil, the plants, the water, you.* Water is precious, water is life, respect the water. You are water, think about it.* San Francisco has taken the lead and banned plastic shopping bags, focus on this becoming a nat'l trend!!!
most of all, CARE!*!*!
Love EARTH, she is none other than yourself!*!*!

VEGAN PUSH!

Vegan Push

This blog is regarding email exchanges between a friend and I.

We were planning to get together Fri evening, when she realized she had a prior engagement, a neigborhood solstice party. I was asked to come along and i said yes. I was then told the primary function of the party was to eat together in celebration. Here are some excerpts from our e mail exchanges and i would like to share them with you all, and welcome your…

the reverance of life

"Aware of the suffering caused by the destruction of life, I undertake to cultivate compassion and learn ways to protect the lives of people, animals, plants, and minerals. I am determined not to kill, not to let others kill, and not to condone any act of killing in the world, in my thinking, and in my way of life."

Life is precious. It is everywhere, inside us and all around us; it has so many forms.

The First Precept is born from the awareness that lives everywhere…

A bit of musing from me today after reading some things on a VegHaven member's page.

......Nature and the Gods and Goddesses of it are sometimes used by evil and by good, upsetting the yin and yang of our mortal human lives.

The wolf story, in my eyes, is the story of the older parent who is easily swayed by negativity, doubt and fear and so, succumbs to evil, denial, envy, domination as a way of life. The birth of life is the peaceful side of the wolf. The child brings hope, love, compassiona for the earth, much like indians did, but without the warfare.

Just thought you might like to hear from me.

May your paths all have peace and evolutionary revelations littering them like fairies in the woods soaring with joy over the birth of a new member.

I can't wait for the day when my path turns toward the many pleasant goals I have set for myself to enjoy. I'm still encountering 'beginnings' and folks that only 'might' like to get more involved. One such turn almost began last week, when a vegetarian approached me to see if I'd be interested in talking about the BUEC.

I hope you're finding your 2008 path a lot more recognizable, a lot more meaningful and a lot more productive.

Peace.
