Primarily Vegan.
I have an ecclectic background with varied interests. I love both the sciences and arts, and have backgrounds and talents in both. I am devoted to my non human companions that usually consist of several cats, both in my house and strays I take care of, and one little dog and a dwarf bunny. Love to garden, do things outside, write, draw, paint, and make anything artistic. I am gay and wish I could meet more gay vegetarians but there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. More later.

Eza
Spring 1990 to Spring 2008
Eza showed up on a bale of hay in my gardens around May or June of 1990 and never left. I estimate she was about 6-8 weeks old. She grew but not as much as a normal cat and always looked like a seven to eight month old kitten even at the age of 18. She weighed only a few pounds but had an attitude much greater than her size and weight. She saw the coming and passing of two dogs, several cats, one bunny, and one Guinea pig. Eighteen years is a big part of anyone’s history and certainly a big part of mine. I was with her at the time of her death which was rather gentle. I have been fortunate to be with all my animal companions that have passed on in the 22 years I have lived in my house. I think when we have a deep relationship and are attuned to other living things that we can sense when their life force is ready to pass on to new dimensions. She was cremated at Rush Pet Cemetery, a wonderful place outside of Rochester, and her ashes will rest until I and all my animal companions are returned to the Earth and Universe once more.

Like you I was there when they died and felt that they didn´t want to leave. They both left deep footprints in my heart :)

Since my 13 year old granddaughter is visiting I have asked her to help me add the pics of Minnie and Perky sunbathing so you could see them.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I meant to reply back to you sooner, but I've been super busy because of the holidays.
I'm so sorry your first dog was hit and killed by a car too. That must have been very traumatic, and you were even younger than I was at the time.
I really like your page, you have done a great job! I meant to tell you that I love that pic of you with Digit. I have always loved to watch stories or documentaries about monkeys and apes...I remember know I have seen Digit before, but that was quite awhile back.
It sure sounds like Root had many challenges (poor baby) but the important thing was that he knew that he was loved...Your mention of Root basking in the sun brought bitter-sweet memories to my mind... My older chis, Minnie and Perky, use to love to sun-bath together in our back yard...I had to have Perky (my chocolate male) euthanized a little over a year ago, due to a tumor on his head that went to his inner ear (he was 11 years old at the time)...I tried to upload a pic of Minnie and Perky sun-bathing (here) but I couldn't figure out how to do it.
I'm glad that you have Dugan and he has you. What breed and size is Dugan's buddy, Lenny?...I have had many chis in my life (I have rescued and adopted some of my chis)...Some chis act aggressive, mainly towards larger dogs (especially the more aggressive breeds) but this is usually a bluff... Being so small, chis can be killed by larger dogs, and I think it is a survival instinct for them to bark and even charge towards a dog (or a person) they percieve to be a potential threat.
37 inches of snow, WOW. and I thought all the cold wind and rain here in not so sunny OR was bad during the winter. I am a native of southern CA.
Wishing you many Blessing in the coming New Year!

Merry Christmas and a Grand New Year.

My first and only dogs, when I was a child, were Chis,-- we had 3 of them. Sadly my favorite dog (the one that slept with me) was run over and killed by a car (right in front of me) which was extremely traumatic at age 11 (or any age).
A Chi-Italian Greyhound combo, WOW! I love both breeds! I bet he or she is (or was) very smart and very fast...I took care of my daughter's whippet at one time while she worked and he reminded me of a high strung race horse.-- He use to shake all over at times because he wanted to "cut loose" so bad. When we were able to let him run, it was awesome to watch him, it was like watching a cheeta run...Is (or was) your Chi, Italian Greyhound mix your "late" dog Roots ?
My senior Chi "Perky" passed to spirit less than 2 years ago...I will have to post my Chi pics sometime soon.
If my dogs were to give Dugan a message, Foxy (my young dog) would say,"lets play," and Minnie (who is 13 years old) would say, "just let me sleep, and wake me when it's chow time" (LOL)
Happy Holidays!
Tia-Lisa
