“Illegal tortoise trade is happening in Britain” (DEFRA, 2004). An estimated 10 million tortoises were shipped into the UK for the pet trade between 1890 and 1984 before the initial ban was introduced. This trade is back! Many of the tortoises that are entering the UK are dying within months, some just days. Please help by signing the below petition, or to help further, please download the paper petition and ask your friends, family & work colleagues to sign. We have started to make good contacts with government officials and need to gain signaures as quickly as possible.

Thank you for reaching out Darren! I had no idea this abuse of tortoises is happening. Very very upsetting. I will sign your petition now. Thank you so much for what you are doing. Why isnt this the stuff we see on the news instead of what movie star is getting divorced? This is why I quit watching the news.
