I’m reading an article about multi-drug resistant “superbugs” like MRSA, etc. Of course these quotes struck me, “We’ve created a petri dish in our factory farms for the evolution of dangerous pathogens” and “The researchers developed a mathematical model that suggested that the impact of the transmission of these bacteria from agriculture may be more significant than that of hospital transmissions.” I knew that the use of antibiotics in industrial farming had severely diminished the effectiveness of antibiotics in humans, but this is scary. And yet another case for veganism from a public health perspective.
