I've been vegetarian for years, but recently eliminated ALL animal products from my diet a few months ago. I found that lately, I am hungry all the time. I know I'm getting enough calories and my diet is nutritionally sound. Have any of my vegan-kin had a similar experience and if so, how did you resolve it? I'm afraid I'm going to lose my girlish figure before too long :-)

It could be but maybe not. I just know it was for me. How old are you? Are you under any stress? Anything else going on physically or mentally? If you have insurance it can;t hurt to go see your gyno.
I definitely feared that same problem when I went vegan three weeks ago - are you drinking enough water, eating enough protein and fiber? Just try to keep filled up on fruits and veggies, that helps me. I haven't lost any weight on my vegan diet yet, but I know I'm doing much better things for my body. Just stick with it, your body should adjust!
protein is really important for staying full. when i'm in school i always carry some type of peanuts, almonds, trail mix, etc with me. my vegan weight is definitely about 7 lbs lighter than my veggie weight (i've switched back and forth a couple of times), but as long as you snack every few hours you should be okay. drinking tons of water helps too!
There's a lot of ways you can keep full being vegan, and not gain weight. The best is eating raw. You can fill up on raw fruits and veggies, and actually lose weight!
Try adding more nuts, nut butters, avocados, olives and healthy oils, e.g. olive oil and flaxseed oil to your diet.
A bit of fat at each meal will help give you a feeling of satiety that eating just fruits and veggies alone does not give.
Be sure to also consider the possibility that some of this is just in your head...part of the uneasiness of making this type of change where you may feel like you're depriving yourself somehow. By the way, how are you getting your vitamin B12?

Yes, I love what AzureBlue said, and everyone else too. :)
Look at what you are eating. Focus on plenty of fruit ( at least 3 or 4 whole fruits a day) and the nuts, avo, olives and all the healthy oils are essential. they help to flush out the toxins and keep you slim, your hair and nails strong and luxurious.......read about seaweed, herbs, fruits, nuts, vegs, and all the wonderful unique properties they provide your body. Without the precious oils, you will actually gain weight, because your body needs the good oils to flush out the bad. :)
to cleanse the liver: drink water with lemon and a teaspoon of olive oil in the morning.
lots of water too.....and carbs are your friends, especially potatoes, whole grains, beans(all legumes), ...satisfying and nutricious.
and eat several small meals all day....
if your body is absorbing enough vitamins and minerals and fats, then your hunger cravings should go away.....:)
are you extra active or stressed out? sometimes women need more calories at certain times. :)
You could try eating little, but often. Make sure you have proper breakfast, because if you don't you'll be so hungry in the day. Another thing is to make sure you drink plenty of water, because I read somewhere that people mistake being thirsty for hunger... I have no idea if thats true or not though.
Eat a nice bowl of oatmeal first thing in the morning when you're hungry all the time. Don't worry about burning the carbs, you'll do that during the day. Try the Irish oatmeal, the fast cooking kind. It's delicious and add some pure maple syrup and soy milk.
During the day eat small amounts but often, like Smart Dogs, or other fast protein items that you can cook and put in the frig. to grab. or pack for work and snack on.
Listen to your body, if you need something sweet because you've worked out, or had a long day, eat fruit, drink fruit juice, figs, prunes, raisins, a juicy Gala apple, and lots of water, see how your body reacts.
If your diet is fairly pure of crapolla, you'll know what you need. Eat what feels good, of course, that goes without saying, not soy icecream Sundays, cookies and the like except for maybe Sunday.
Keep it smart. Keep active. Your vegan diet is the fountain of youth.
By the way, I start my day with a glass of organic veg.and fruit juice and all urges disappear. One carrot, a bunch of parsely, one leaf of collard greens, one stalk of celery, and nice tart apple!
Nectar of the gods! Your body's urges for sweets vanishes! But still eat a cup of oatmeal!
Remember to keep carbs full of whole grains and eat them early in the day.
I'd also like to add that it is important that you get vitamin B12. That is the only nutrient that is not found in vegetables but is found in meat and meat products(its a byproduct of the bacteria on the meat).
The best way is to take a B12 supplement. B12 fortified foods can be found also, but the supplement is the best way to get enough.
